Today is a Good Day!

After a great weekend at home (although it was busy) Birthday Pictures for Kyristan followed by dinner at Mom’s house on Saturday with Nanny, Gerry, Mom, Kyristan, Heather and myself. After a Turkey Dinner and Birthday Celebration for Kyristan, along with a short Easter Egg Hunt made for a good start to the night. Dinner with Heather and Timmy followed by a movie (Fast & Furious) made for a great ending.

Sunday was K’s Birthday Party, he made out like a bandit and loves everything that was given to him. Sunday evening we went to Jungle Jim’s for his Birthday Dinner and we all had a great time!

On to today — Tim has a 60% reduction and has been moved from Stage 4 to Stage 3 Metastatic Cancer. He is no longer on a timeline and was told by his Doctor that so long as they continue to fight, he should be able to win.

A little bird spoke to Kyristan and I this morning when we were walking to catch the bus, he said “Here comes the Sun”.

Lots and Lots!

Well it indeed has been a while, and as such there is lots to talk about. My little boy is turning 3 in just under 2 weeks! I truly can’t believe that he is getting so big so fast! Heather took him out yesterday to get some clothes for spring, a size 5 Jacket and size 9 shoes later… he’s good to go. We are having a birthday party for him at our house, something small with just some of the people he sees regularly and knows as friends and family.

Some good news from Tim (Lormac), the first good news he has had since beginning his cancer treatment. About 1/3 of the tumors are showing a reduction in size, some more than others, but it is certainly a start and a positive sign. They are increasing his Chemo treatment by a large amount which concerns me for his well-being regarding his work and social life. As much as we tell him he should take some medical leave he keeps saying no, to which end I can understand that if he stays home all the time he will likely go out of his mind.

Sean and Jenn are engaged! No date set yet (to my knowledge), but the question has been popped and she said yes! Congratulations guys!

WoW-wise things have been pretty good. We are getting down to a 2-night raid week due to faster clears and people getting the gear they need. We have all current content on farm, and are able to do the 2-drake hard-mode on Sartharion. 3-drakes is still a bit off I would say, it will come with gear and practice, but we still have a few people who need to gear up and bring their DPS up to where our top-end DPSers are. Quenthe is finally level 80 and starting to collect gear, Kittarutaru hit 80 last night aswell! Yay Heather! Now she needs to decide if she plans to raid with us or not!

That’s my update for now I guess, time to get back to work.

Been a while.

Well, I have decided I should probably post something. It has been a while! I don’t normally post from home, I usually reserve that for a small escape from the boredom of work, but I’ve had a lot of time off/working from home over the last three weeks and WordPress has become neglected because of it.

Where to start?

Well, there has been a lot of Daddy/Kyristan time over the last few weeks, and it has been great! The little guy is growing up so fast. Starting to form sentences, mimicking words and learning so much every day!

I have been going up to meet Heather for lunches on my day off, which has resulted in my workmates thinking I don’t know how to take a day off from work. I just shrug and tell them that I need to eat!

AJ and David (Bemis and Jeddek) are here now! They came in on Sunday night and will be here until Saturday morning. Yesterday they got the quick tour of uptown and we met Heather, Timmy and Doober for lunch at 16:00. Lots of stories and laughs were shared. We waited for Timmy to get off of work at 17:00 (17:15… slow ass bastard) and then Timmy and Jamie went for food, Tim, David, AJ and Sean walked home while I hopped the bus to get Kyristan.

Ness was taken home from the hospital last night, I hope she got some much needed rest.

Thursday is Thanksgiving Dinner, and I am making Sweet Potato Pie. I am sorry if anyone dies from it.

Weekend

Well, all I can say is the weekend started off pretty terrible. Friday night I was working on a conference call until 02:30, then went for a quick walk with Tim and came back to review logs until 06:00. All of this was for naught, as I came in today to find out that our deadline was missed, and that the MCS was being pulled out of the site because we couldn’t fix an issue that had nothing to do with the MCS itself.

I went to bed at 06:00 and slept the sleep of the dead until Saturday afternoon. I got up, took a shower, did laundry and went for a walk with Tim to get some lunch. When I got home I did dishes, chatted a bit and generally just cleaned up the house for when Heather came home from Wirral. Saturday night, we raided.

Entering Tempest Keep for what was the first time for many of the people involved, we efficiently killed A’lar and Void Reaver, and after stumbling a few times on High Astromancer Solariaan added her to the kill list. We took a few shots at Kael’thas, but it was getting late so we decided to call it a night.

Sunday evening was the hockey game, Kyristan’s first, and boy did he have fun! We were shouting and cheering, and playing along with the crowd. He was infatuated with the mascots… until they came over to see him! He still likes them… but at a distance ha ha! After the game we went to dinner at Jungle Jim’s and it was good. Kyristan was in a great mood pretty much all night!

Coming home, we logged in (after getting K in bed) to join our Officer meeting which was quite productive I would say. After that we decided to go back in and kill Kael so that people could get their Vials. After a very nice one shot (with some Pro tanking from yours truly I might add! LOL Crit Cap), we decided to move on to SSC. Pushing through SSC to try and get people their Vashj vials, we decided to kill Hydross and Lurker along the way… who both just happened to drop tanking upgrades that were left to me. Having upgraded 3 pieces of my tanking gear total in the run to Vashj I was in a much better position to help out on the fight – with one problem… my Mace skill (new tanking weapon) was 100 point below max.

Enchanting and equipping the mace just before we engaged Vashj, I ran in and put as many attacks into her as I could in Phase 1, and managed to skill up the rest of the points in Phase 2 when she becomes damage immune. Now with my maxed out skill and new gear I am ready to rock! Too bad we didn’t kill her…

It was a cluster-fuck in the truest sense. People were everywhere, people were dieing, and things were just going poorly in general. In the end it was good fun, and that’s what matters.

What do you say?

•November 3, 2008 • 1 Comment

What do you say to a man who is dieing?
Afraid to let go?
Who can’t seem to stop crying?

What do you say to a mother in pain?
With a shattered soul?
Her heart shrouded in flame?

I love you, they say.
Don’t leave me they cry.
Can you be strong enough?
Can you hold back the lies?

Do you tell them it will be fine?
When you know that it won’t?
Do you tell them stay calm?
Do you tell them don’t fear?

What do you say, when your heart is in two?
Are you sad that it’s them?
Or just happy it’s not you?

What do you say to make it all better?
Nothing at all.
It can’t be, not ever.

You tell them you love them.
You stay by their side.
Stay strong for the weak.
You tell them no lies.

You know they aren’t fine.
You tell them you’re there.
You hold them close.
You show them you care.

What do you say?
What do you say?
Nothing at all.
Not with words anyway.

What do you say?
What do you say?
I love you, you know.
You are with me every day.

Today is the first day of a New Year, and the day on which the veil between the realm of the living and the realm of the dead is at its thinnest.

For some of us, this is true in more ways than you can imagine.

A young boy is drifting back and forth accross the veil right now, his tenuous grasp on life barely holding on. Our thoughts are with you tonight Jason, and Becca and Steve too. No matter the outcome we will be with you.

As of last night, I now posess the Outland Raider Achievement, as I have personally participated in a kill of every Raid Boss in The Burning Crusade.

I would like to thank Malicious Intent and Mediocrity for banding together to push through this last stint of content before the relase of Wrath of the Lich King.

Kil’jaeden Down FTW!
